The What, How, Why, When, and Where of Saint Paul's Confirmation Program
What is the Sacrament of Confirmation?
- Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, form the Sacraments of Initiation that are all intimately connected.
- In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
How do I sign my teen up for Confirmation?
- Registration is submitted to the Office of Youth Ministry either the year before, or at the designated Registration time.
- Students may register at the end of 7th Grade or before school starts in the 8th Grade. (Registration can take place anytime up to 18 yrs of age)
- There is a $10 Fee for Sacramental Prep / Youth Ministry
YEAR ONE
- Teens in Year One (typically 8th Grade) will attend Sunday night youth ministry, growing in their faith and community.
- Year One will also have various meetings throughout the year (scheduled in advance).
- Confirmation Retreat (scheduled in advance).
- Various Service Opportunities (see Youth Calendar)
Where do Confirmation sessions & Youth Ministry take place?
- Sunday Sessions take place in Papineau Hall
- Sunday night Youth Ministry takes place in Papineau Hall. Click here for more info on Youth Ministry!
- Youth Ministry meets from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
- High School & Middle School are separate during these times, except for dinner.
When is a Sponsor chosen?
- Typically sponsors are chosen in the first year.
- A Sponsor form will be given at time of Registration, with more information.
YEAR TWO
- Year Two (typically Grade 9) will continue to attend Sunday night youth ministry.
- Year Two will have 6 sessions throughout the year, which teen, parent, and if possible, sponsor, will attend (scheduled in advance).
- Attendance of Sessions is required, regardless of attendance at Catholic School, and or, Home Schooling.
